Fall: a time for clearing

Fall is such a great time of year - the summer's heat is finally gone, the garden soon won't need weeding on a daily basis, and the anticipation of winter and the holidays looms large.

While some may see Fall as a sad time of year, I think this is a great time to 'clean house' and get ready for the coming year.  Go through old files, old emails, old contacts, get rid of, or archive, those files and emails that are no longer needed.  Clean out a closet or two, go through that pile of papers on your desk. Resurrect any old projects that were put aside over the summer.  With winter coming we'll be spending more time indoors, so our indoors should be pleasant and welcoming.

For employers, this is a great time to begin planning for next year.  Take a look at all your jobs - have any changed over the past year? Do salaries need to be adjusted? Will you need to hire more staff in the next year? Is there some re-shuffling of job duties that you could do to make everyone's work-load a bit easier?

Taking a few moments to think about some of these long-term planning issues will help you be prepared when Spring rolls around next year - you'll be ready for whatever comes your way!
