What does personal finance and weight loss have in common?
Personal finance and weight loss are one in the same in my opinion. Neither one works for me if I don’t buckle down and face the fact that I have to take action or nothing will change. I have come to believe you really can’t have one without the other either. The stress and worry brought on by not having your personal finances in order will hinder you from losing weight at least it has for me. It will not be easy and it will take some strong will and desire to finish at times. You know when you go to that first exercise class at a gym and you think this will be hard but I will be ok. You get there and you don’t know anyone and you don’t know how to use the equipment or even who to ask. You feel alone but then you make it through the first class and think you are going to die but something inside you makes you go back the second time and then a third? By now you know what equipment to use and what you are in for. You see familiar faces and don’t feel quite so alone. You start to make it through the class without thinking you are way too old for exercise and you start to feel pretty good. You start to feel like you are taking control of your life.
The same thing happens with personal finance. At first you feel all alone. You feel scared or embarrassed to have someone else know what shape your books are in and what you really spend your money on. Just knowing someone will be making you accountable scares you but at the same time empowers you to stay on track. I know I have those fears. We all know that for whatever reason life takes over and you get busy and you can’t get to class, you can’t seem to find time to make a healthy lunch and you buy lunch, you are too tired or depressed so you buy something you don’t need, and you start to make excuses. I am so guilty of this. But this is the time you have to get focused and start to really decide if you want to run the race or be stuck in the crowd. For me I have chosen to run the race and I can’t wait to cross that finish line with hands high in the air and the crowd cheering and screaming. I have chosen Consilio’s personal finance program to help me cross that finish line. They have the equipment and know how to use it and they work as a team. I started my program in January with the Consilio team. It is a New Year and time for a new outlook on life. Becoming debt free, reducing stress and losing weight sounds wonderful to me. How about you?
